Xhaka changes kit number… already

Arsenal’s new midfield signing Granit Xhaka was handed the number 16 jersey just last week but has already opted to change it.

The Swiss international’s preferred number is 29, the reverse of his birth year – 1992.

As expected, many fans were furious having already ordered a jersey with 16 on the back.

Arsenal’s Twitter account addressed the fury in the best way possible.

ArseBlog points out that this isn’t some strange coincidence.

“We’re not buying it though, we reckon this is all some kind of plot based around the number 7.

At Borussia Monchengladbach, Xhaka wore 34. 3+4 = 7. He then chose 16 at Arsenal and very obviously 1+6 = 7.

Now, with this so-called ‘reverse year of birth’ 29, we can also make 7 because 9-2 = 7. We can go further by adding his 16 to the year of his birth so 16 + 92 = 108 and then discounting the zero 8-1 = 7.

In an even more sinister twist, if take his original 34, add 92 to it, you get 166. Then add his current age of 23 and you get 189. 1 + 8 + 9 = 18 and 8-1 = 7.”
